Server Side Baking Is Here, Yay!

If you’ve been following the important news, (no, not the Jeopardy kid and his typo!) you know that today is the big day.

Linden Labs has introduced Server Side Appearance - “baking” was too technical ;) - to the main grid.

Lelo and I visited a few busy hangouts to see if there were more grey people than usual.

Our very non-scientific first impression is that avatars rez a hair faster, and that’s all.

I’d say this is a total win for LL. A big change that doesn’t break things for most people using the recommended software is huge.

Good job, guys. Now get three-people private chat working, eh? ;)


So today, then, is the official last day of Phoenix. If you're still using it, everyone will be grey, and you will be grey to everyone.

This should not be a surprise to most, but as they say on the Firestorm blog, some 70,000 non-compatible users are still out there. Ok, change is bad, but dang!

Evelock 2nd Anniversary and Giveaway

Eve Terr sent us a note to let us know today was Evelock’s second anniversary in SL.

SL10B : It Has Begun!

I can’t hear that without thinking of Mortal Kombat  (yes, I’m a child of the eighties).

Fortunately, SL10B is a little more peaceful, no spandex-clad ninjas will pounce on you, and there is a lot of really amazing stuff to see.

We were there yesterday for the opening, which was a bit more quiet than last year's. No keynote address, just a simple raising of the flags - in multiple locations, a smart move to spread the lag.

The exhibit lelo and I like best so far is the History Walk. Some excellent research and summarizing went into it, and it still works out to some twenty “slides”, set on large posters and surrounded with period items. It's here : http://slurl.com/secondlife/SL10B%20Beguile/157/106/22

SL10B and SLB10A are coming fast!

As you know, we’ll be taking a keen interest in the SL anniversary celebrations. 10 years is an awesome milestone!

First, I’ll hit you with the dates. If you have any sort of interest in this yourself you probably know them, but it occurred to me today how little time there really was to see everything.

SL10B: The official community celebration, is from Sunday June 16th to Saturday June 29th.

With 20 sims full of exhibits, if you intend to see any appreciable fraction of them, you’ll need to plan your time.

SLB10A: The adult celebration is smaller and starts a bit later: Friday June 21st to Saturday June 29th. On the plus side, you’ll have time to see everything!

We’ll keep this post short - I don’t want to make your head spin! - but I’ll thank Gemma Cleanslate (here’s her own blog) for being so astonishingly helpful. It may not be the very first published, but here’s our own snap of the SL10B map!

I am sworn to secrecy but I’ll just point to the big, big, big thing in the middle and say one word.

SLB10 A(dult!) - Adult Hub Will Celebrate Too

While SL10B will not have adult content, they will definitely point to adult celebration sites; I think that’s cool, and a decent way to handle things - we’ve been posting in a PG manner about adult content since the start of this blog, so I definitely understand the position of the SL10B organizers.

We heard today from Serjourn Daxter, the prime mover at the Freedom Continent: she’s setting a sim aside for adult content exhibitors, so if you would like to be an exhibitionist, give her or Lexi Lock a call to reserve a parcel.

SL10B Here We Come

You’ve started hearing the buzz. You know it’s under way, amazing people are already working on it as we speak, and the Web site is up: SL Community Celebration

Well, it is done; I sent in my application to volunteer as “Other: Press” this year, and so has lelo.

I had an amazing time covering SL9B, and I intend to do it again for SL10B.

A certain rubber doll asked whether this was really a fetish-related event. I said not in the least, but it’s a good point, worth sharing with our readers.

I believe that while we specialize on a certain topic, we have a level of professionalism sufficient to justify participating in a world-wide event.

We’re not mainstream, but fetish is a part of the world, as valid as any other.

So while I won’t be wearing gasmasks or capes while covering the event, I’ll hang on to my Leather Goddess tag :)

I had a chance to talk with Cindy of Latex Station, and cleared up a little misunderstanding I had: the Sponsor Wide Hunt name refers to clubs Latex Station sponsors.

We received a cool little item from Tsuki Saphed and a friendly, polite request to feature it in the blog.

It’s a pair of earrings in the triskelion shape that has become the semi-official symbol of BDSM.

They're a bit small in my pic, so here's a closeup.

The earrings look good, and aren’t too big. The ear bit is a tiny handcuff, and the menu lets you set colors on the three metal parts, and the gems as well.

Tsuki’s just starting out, so drop by her little store and encourage her to keep going - we need all the fetish designers we can get! :)

Big Hunt At Latex Station

Weekend Options

Mistress is traveling this weekend so i’ll do our friday post and as i’ll be alone this weekend i thought it would be fun to have a look at what’s going on this weekend in SL.

Well in the parts of SL we tend to visit. *smiles*

On saturday (3-5 pm) the “DJ Evergreens Cum As You Are” party at Rubber Room sounds like fun, Ever “the Management” is always fun and a general all around nice guy.

On sunday from 10 to 12 am there is a “Deadly Sins: Vanity” party at Twisted Orchid, TO seems to be back to it’s old form, i just crashed there. *winks*

Next to that there should be the usual standing around at Mesmerized Dungeon and our newest people watch spot, Domme a Domme.

Twisted Orchid 6th Anniversary Party is This Saturday

Well if you haven’t read our Friday post, you may not know that Twisted Orchid will celebrate its sixth anniversary in SL.

We have the schedule, and they’re going all out: 20 hours of partying, from 4 in the morning to midnight!

Twisted Orchid was started on February 16th 2007 by Kailani Ling, and is just one of those rare success stories in Second Life, where the average life expectancy of a new club is three months - and that’s with everyone working hard and doing everything right.

Orchid was fetish from the start. I took my very first pony cart ride at Pattaya Island, what feels like decades ago :)

The club was always famous for beautiful and friendly dancers. Extravagantly generous tippers were a feature of the club, and walls of biggest tippers with amounts that climbed in the tens of thousands of L$ were not uncommon in those days.

As people will tell their favorite Orchid stories, there’s one I’ll share with you in advance.

Lelo and I had a favorite spot, the couch with snuggle poses at the left facing the stage. Kailani came by one evening and I mentioned that the pose didn’t fit us so well. She took the time to custom-fit the pose to us, and it became our fixed spot - we’d wait for people to leave “our” seat :)

Twisted Orchid went into a bit of a quieter time, but recently came back swinging; Kai has good people around her once again, and it looks like it has a good chance of returning to the cool friendly fetish place we loved for years

Teaser - Upcoming Party at Twisted Orchid

Twisted Orchid is one of the oldest fetish clubs in Second Life.

Lelo and I spent quite a few evenings together there, watching newbs get catapulted off the stage at high speed :)

They have a party coming up Saturday February 16th, and we’ll give you all the details in our Monday post... but I thought, you know, a bit of extra notice would not be a bad thing.

I’ll tell you right now, this one won’t be a one-hour quickie.

Pony Tuesdays at Twisted Orchid

We had a fun surprise tonight, as Kailani Ling made an announcement on the SL Ponygirls Club: Tuesday nights are now Pony themed events at Twisted Orchid.

The Orchid is the oldest still-existing club where lelo and I hung out. Arsheba, the first, went the way of much in SL and moved on.

Well I couldn’t see an announcement like that go by without visiting. Orchid and ponies still have a spot in my heart even though I mostly moved on.

The crowd was good, and while there wasn’t a stampede of ponies, there were quite a few, and much of the rest of the guests were in good-looking fetishwear - I wasn’t the only one in XTC leather :)

The sponsor for the evening was Red Devil, one of our regularly featured designers.

Think Kink - PetCrate and 12 days of Kinkmas

Introducing PetCrate by Think Kink, a further development on the PetPod we showed you in July.

Lelo will tell you more about it while I mention the crazy sale the TK ladies thought up: the Twelve Days of Kinkmas!

Starting tomorrow (December 12th) at noon SL time, one item from Think Kink will go on sale, at a price as low as 29L$ (but it’ll vary), for 24 hours only.

Then it’s gone (that vendor goes offline!), and the next one goes on sale - so you don’t want to blink.

We don’t even know what will be going on sale ourselves; they’re treating it like Christmas presents, you’ll have to go see to find out.

So seems not everyone likes to keep their pets in a nice easy to clean travelpod, so the girls at Think Kink came up with this one.

The PetCrate offers everything the PetPod offered except in a more harsh style. There is a selection of 9 styles for the cage and 8 for the wire.

And yes a few are very rusty, so it should fit in with your local back alley. *winks*

But the big news is the fact that the new cage is mesh and that means a big prim saving, the original was 216 prims, this one will only cost you 11 prims.

The crate is copy but no trans or mod, so you can easily build your own pet shelter with these, if you are in need of a bigger cage, can’t imagine the pet you would want to keep in it, you can request a bigger one from the girls.

Womenstuff Hunt

We heard about the Womenstuff hunt from our friend Canary Twine, of Ponybound.

It’s not only fetish, I’ll warn you right away, but looking at the designer list on their Web site, I was slightly envious: 253 clothing stores, 133 shoe stores? Dang! :)

The current hunt has 200 stores participating, and started on November 2nd. If you don’t know what to do this weekend, that’s our suggestion.

Club Le Fetiche Is Now On Adult Hub

A few weeks back, I was at Freedom Continent and Serjourn called me over to meet some nice folks as she was setting up their new location: Kennedy Trang, the new owner of Club Le Fetiche, and friends.

They seemed quite nice and I made a mental note to drop by soon and have a peek.

Tonight was a good time and we met Jenna, the co-owner of the club.
