Pony Column Will No Longer Be Weekly

It’s not easy to write something every week.

I have nothing but thanks to give to Jo and Kendra for their efforts, but the fact is that they are busy doing pony things. That’s why their input is valuable.

The sad fact is that we have a slot to fill every Friday.

So lelo and I have decided to publish the Pony Correspondent column on a when-available basis.

When we have a column in hand, it will go up on Friday. If we don’t.. well.

We’ll try to up the fetish fashion and toy reviews to five a week, but that’s a fair bit of work.

I’ll tell you right now, there will be Fridays with a lolcat pic or funny related video and not much more. We’ll do our best, as we’ve been doing these last few years.

If you want to help with research, it’s very much appreciated. Pony columns as well : read the past ones for format and inspiration.

Zindra Prime : New Adult Hub

It’s good to have friends. Especially the kind that know the cool, new, exciting stuff going on in Second Life.

For a few weeks now, we’ve been hearing rumblings and rumors : a new adult hub is coming to SL.

Well Freedom Continent is it. A new five-sim extension now adjoins it, with Zindra Prime at its center (the one with the nifty pyramid) and Zindra North, South, East and West around it.

Hub, gateway, door : a place for people interested in adult content in SL to begin their journey, managed by established, responsible people. Sounds pretty smart to me.

Of course, we’ve been telling you Freedom Continent was a nifty place for a while, so we look pretty darn well-informed ourselves ;)

(Click here for a bigger map)

It’s my intellectual snobbishness, perhaps, but I believe there are people who are doers, and they definitely bear keeping an eye on, because they’re going places, and usually taking a lot of people along with them.

Serjourn Daxter is a doer. The solid crowd she gathered around her is going places, and we’ll be telling you the details as they develop.

Inara Pey, another extremely well-informed blogger, has this post with much good info - you know, actual facts ;) - about Zindra Prime : http://modemworld.wordpress.com/2011/11/10/freedom-continent-develop-adult-hubs/

More as it develops :)

Help Us Keep The Pony Directory Updated

Last November, Jaydana, lelo and I started the Pony Directory, a reference site for pony play in Second Life.

We believe this is a useful service, and we’re happy to put the time into maintaining it.

Jaydana was our expert and researcher, as lelo and I don’t live the pony lifestyle 24/7.

But Real Life Intruded, as it will, and Jaydana no longer has the time to keep us posted on changes in the SL community.

So I would like to ask all ponies, trainers, sim owners, and other enthusiasts to give us a little hand in keeping the directory up to date.

A new place opens? An old place closes? A shop carries some cool item we should know?

Send me an instant message - I’m nowhere near capped ;)

Events are best posted on SLPonyPlay.com.. we carry their RSS feed, and we don’t want to compete with them in any way.

With your cooperation, we can improve the Pony Directory and make it a more useful resource for all SL pony people.

Thank you in advance.

Help Wanted : Pony Columnist(s)

Hello everyone :)

Much as lelo and I love ponies and pony play, we are somewhat disconnected from the scene - the daily blog does eat a fair bit of our time.

So we’d love to find someone who is knowledgeable, has been around the ponyplay scene for some time, and who could give useful information to our readers.

It might be difficult to find a new thing to say every week.

If you want to join with the understanding that you’ll be on the team but not sole responsible, that works for us.

Topics to be covered include pony places, events, advice, gear... anything useful and entertaining. See the previous Pony Correspondent posts for inspiration.

I’ll add that we have on occasion covered puppy play as related to pony, so an occasional post would be welcome.

What else? Ideally you’re comfortable writing in English, even if it’s your second language.

I offer editorial support, ie I will mercilessly butcher your text and you will cry ;)

You should have time to explore SL; if you have an Owner, he or she must agree to your participation.

So if you want to join us in this cool adventure, send me a message inworld and let’s ride!

HybridZ - Freedom Continent Uniform

Deirdre :

Four years ago, I met lelo at Desperation Isle, and we began an astonishing journey of discovery and friendship, which soon grew into deep love.

In a world where two months is not unusual for a D/s relationship, I feel blessed to have met such an extraordinary person.

We stuck together through happy and difficult times, in first and second world... and I believe we’ll be seeing many more anniversaries in Second Life together.

lelo :

Four years already, how time flies, don't know how i ever got so lucky but in Deirdre i found my, by lack of better words, soulmate.

And as i've been well coming her back to heaven each night for the past 4 years, it's truely a match made in heaven.

Still don't know why she picked me on Desperation Island, but i'm still glad she did.

I love you from the bottom of my heart and i always will.

Deirdre
When we visited the Damsel mall last week, lelo immediately spotted the cool freebie Hybridz put up there, called simply the Freedom Continent Uniform.

Serjourn definitely seems to be a genius at getting win-win cooperation from people: good exposure for Hybridz, and a free fetish outfit for Freedom visitors.. it’s hard to do better.

The outfit is a classic Hybridz, with inflatable hood and sex-toy mouth hole. Some fun Freedom logos on the shoulders and a big Hybridz stamp on your behind will let everyone know where you stand ;)

Next time you drop by Bondage Ranch for some S&M (you know, Stand & Model), stop at the mall and have your slave pick up this classic little black dress.

The fixed landing zone at Damsel puts you at the top of the stairs of the mall, but if you use this slurl, you’ll see where the vendor is located with the map marker :
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Damsel/209/127/22

lelo
What’s better than a pair of ballet boots? do i hear you say two pairs? well yes, but these are even better, these are FREE!

Ok lelo calming down now... *winks*

From the people how brought you quite a number of rubber isolation suits, Hybridz, this is all you need to start your life in rubber bondage.

Opening the box reveals 3 prim items, did i mention two of those are ballets, and two catsuits, one for boys one for girls.

You get a good looking prim hood with a gaping suck mouth and a nice looking zipper on the back.

A zipper that continues down the back of the catsuit.

The hood and the boots offer you simple RLV lock and gag options.

Ohh and did i mention that you get these lovely, and may i stress, free ballet boots with the outfit.

Blogger Was Broken - We're Innocent !

Hello everyone!

Faithful readers will have noticed that Thursday's post never showed up.

We were here (we haven’t missed a day in years, literally) but Blogger had technical difficulties.

We couldn't post, as the service was in read-only mode while they repaired something.

We didn’t suffer too much damage : we lost one comment and a few tags on Wednesday’s post - I think some bloggers may have been less fortunate.

Blogger’s record is still admirable : this is the first serious downtime since we started the blog in September 2008.

Anyway, we’re back up, and we're ready to show you cool new stuff on Monday.

Latexia Japan Relief Auction

Unless you’re living in a cave with no 3G coverage, you’re aware of the tragedy currently affecting Japan.

Latexia will be running a charity auction, all proceeds to go to Japan relief through the Linden’s own system, so as not to waste any money on currency conversion and such.

The auction time :

Sunday, April 3rd
11AM SL time
.

Some of our favorite designers are at Latexia, and they gave generously : clothes, footwear, toys...

Come and get some cool things and feel good knowing you’re supporting a worthy cause.

We’ll keep on bringing you the fetish news from SL the way we have done the last two years.

Normal services will be resumed on Tuesday January 4th 2011.

Duce - Aphotic Raven

Deirdre
When we got the Aphotic Raven outfit and boots from Duce, I had a surprise : the boots don’t include invisiprims, so they are meant only for users of v2 viewers.

It’s been a while since I tried it. Last time, my video card died the day after I ran the Linden v2. It could be a coincidence, but I don’t trust it anymore, so we snapped those pictures on another computer.

I had forgotten how clumsy and oppressive the user interface is in v2.

Lindens : seriously, whatever you paid for that horrible design, you got screwed, ok? You need to call Jakob Nielsen, and fast.

I will drop Linden viewers before I move to v2.

Designers : the alpha socks are temptingly easy, but I recommend making invisiprims for a while yet, and clearly labeling boxes that don’t include them as v2 only.

This said, the boots look pretty awesome, and the spurs are wicked! Boot colors available are black, blueberry, camo, cherry and grape.

The outfit has good shine and decent detail, and as usual, I could only wish the prims (cap and belt) were resizeable to a little smaller.

lelo
Seems saint reads our blog and has answered my request for more fetish style boot. *smiles*

The boots are somewhat the same style as the bad dogs, though not a restyled copy.

The thing that really stands out on them are the belts and the spurs connected to them.

The belts are quite amazing, someone really took some time sculpting them to look real.

The rest of the outfit is simple but good, still the boots really stand out, great work, we want more!!! *winks*

XTC Leather - Taurus and Sagittarius

Deirdre:
Another double release from XTC, I’m wearing Taurus and lelo is rocking the bike chick look in Sagittarius.

Taurus comes in a miniskirt version, but long pants are also included. Two pairs of gloves (one fingerless) and a cool horned heart tattoo complete the look.

The front has twin lacing details and the usual excellent leather texture we’ve come to expect from XTC.

A fun outfit for clubbing or spanking ;)

Another milestone for our little blog : Friday’s post was number 500 !

Thank you Jaydana for the dependable Friday Pony Post, and thank you faithful readers for staying with us this long :)

Some years ago, I was sitting with lelo at Twisted Orchid and a new resident told us he was concerned that he might become bored of Second Life.

Well, it’s been a long, wild, mostly fun ride... and we ain’t bored yet ;)

Here’s to five hundred more SLFF blog posts!

Deirdre and lelo

lelo:
Fishnets anyone? XTC goes 80’s with this one.

With the nice catsuit, an outfit on its own for some, you get a good looking sleeveless jacket and miniskirt, both in lovely leather.

I just love the way Xaviar uses a prim to hide the awful clothlayer skirts.

As usual the boots and cuffs are an optional extra and not in the set, the fingerless gloves are include.

Nice little sexy rock chick summer outfit so get them while the weather is still good.

Deirdre and lelo - Third Anniversary

A word from us is pretty special today : Today is Deirdre and lelo’s third year anniversary together in Second Life. Three years ago, we met and decided to explore this amazing world ... and rapidly decided that we wanted to be together for the whole journey. (picture from 2007!)

Deirdre:
Three years is long some ways. It’s a lot of hours if you add up the daily visits. But it can seem pretty short, looking back. Seems like yesterday that I walked up to lelo at Desperation Isle and said hello.

For us, today was a day to reflect. Remembering the wonderful places we knew, the good friends who are gone, the ones still with us.. the beautiful places we visited, the amazing things we did, built, the clubs we ran, the projects we abandoned.. you know, life.

Lelo makes me happy. Every day, the time we spend together is precious to me. Not just for the effort she makes to meet me in the world every day, but for the love, loyalty, support - devotion, in a word - that she gives me. We laugh together, sometimes cry together, work, learn, play, snuggle. Happy life :)

I’m proud to be able to share this day with you, our faithful readers. And the many, many more to come.

I love you, lelo. Second Life wouldn’t be heaven without you.

lelo:
Wow, 3 years already, how time flies.

We just were thinking back about all the things we did, the people we met, friends we made and friends we lost.

Not sure what i expected when i came into SL, but when i met my Deirdre, on one of my first days here, something sparked.

Don’t think it was love at first sight, still we friended and 2 days later i proudly wore her collar, the one i’m still wearing 3 years later.

We slowly grew together and adjusted our RL to be together, Deirdre hurrying home to be here at her 6 and me getting up at midnight, to spend our precious time together.

And after 3 years we are still deeply in love with each other, the few times one of us isn’t here friends call and ask what’s happened, as they are used to always see us together.

Deirdre, i love you with all my heart, you are the best Mistress i could ever wish for, my best friend, the most beautiful wife i could ever dream of... you are my heaven.

pretty soon we won’t need SL as we are already finishing each other’s sentences... ESP *winks*

VvB Stiletto Heels - Maid Platform Ankle Boots.

Long time readers will have noted our traditional Monday Kayliwulf Kingdom post.

We looked forward to doing them too; we love their designs.

Daphne and Lazarus have given us tremendous support since we started this blog, as well as a choice spot for our blog board at their sim.

So we will continue showing their new outfits as they are released, but we will ease off the weekly posts for now.

Deirdre:
We found so many good boots recently that we’re launching a week devoted to them.

Here’s lelo with the first entry in Boot Week 2010 : VvB’s Maid ankle boots.

Viktoria sent us these a while back, and we were just itching to run them.

They’re gorgeous ankle boots with an extreme heel, and as we said before, Viktoria’s inspiration is La Piazza Heels.

Once again, there is a shine texture, and a prim shine applied to the boots - so they look awesome from any angle.

lelo:
Viktoria has been busy the past weeks and according to her, she’s finally getting the hang of 3D sculpting, and we can only agree.

The shoe-shape is amazing and the texturing is perfect and i can only wonder at how she got the little bow in the lace looking so good.

The extreme high heel is made even longer by the height of the platform, these are true sky scraper heels, you better not have a fear of heights in these boots.

There is just one little bit of critique on these boots, the scripting in them could use a bit of help.

You have to change the color of the laces on each boot separately, can you imagine. *winks*

Now lets hope she can make the same improvement on the ballet-boot prims as she did on these and she might, like she said, get me out of my Fairlights, no promises though...

Haiti Relief Event Weekend

Luxette Maximus, of Rubber Kittens, called us last night with an event notice : a charity fetish event at Latexia Space Station this weekend, to support relief efforts in Haiti.

The fund-raising part of the event will be an auction by numerous designers.. should be fun!

Please join the RubberDolls for this worthy cause! Here's the text of the invitation :

Dear Sisters and Potentials,
Honored Guests,

We have seen sad things in the last few weeks.

The devastating earthquake in Haiti is only example of many.

All the time it is the children in the affected areas who get hit hardest by these disasters.

Thus with happy heart I noted the effort M10 is putting into organizing a "Haiti Relief Event Weekend".

I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to all those Sisters, Potentials and Places helping her to raise funds to help those in need.

M10 and her Event-Team have the Blessings of the Sisterhood and the Executive for their work.

And I do ask all here - sisters, potentials and guests alike - to join and help.

All funds raised will be donated to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

And to show my own dedication and endorsment of this effort I will put this under my patronage.

I do guarantee that all the money collected will reach UNICEF.

Please.... HELP US... TO HELP OTHERS !

Join our "Haiti Relief Event Weekend"

With my best wishes

M85
Executive Head Mistress

See you there!

We're in Marquis Magazine 47 : Fetish in Second Life

It's all Elly's fault.

Last October, we were visiting my friend Elly Dagger, sitting on her gorgeous pier and looking at the sea, and out of the blue, she says "Some magazines write about SL.. have you thought about getting published?"

I was struck dumb. No, I hadn't. Like, ever. We do a blog, we have fun in Second Life.. wow. What a thought.

I called a friend who knows the fetish magazine biz, and he suggested Marquis.

I sent Marquis a letter of enquiry, got a friendly and encouraging reply, then sat with lelo to start writing.

We tried to pick spectacular and representative places and outfits, and wondered how to get them in good enough quality for print.

We got the article done, sent it in under deadline, and boom, we got published.

I'm still a bit stunned, honestly. So, here we are, some months later, with an advance copy of Marquis issue 47.

First, I want to encourage you to buy it and keep those fine folks in business - someone has to pay for all the latex polish, after all ;)

Second, here's a peek at our article. See if you can spot the places and outfit designers.

(Ooops! We ran out of bandwidth last night.. all better now, the pages will come up)

Merry Christmas

Another year comes to an end.. good times, bad times, and our 328th post (today!)

We'll be taking a short posting break - the first in quite a while.

We'll return Monday January 4th.

Merry Christmas to all our dear readers and friends.

Thank you to all the wonderful designers who make the awesome things we model and review.

Thanks also to our commenters and everyone who supported us from the start. You know who you are, darlings.

(And for anyone wondering, the fun "Mother Claus" outfits are from Latex Station, and the lovely snowy landscape is at Maison Broceliande.)

On a sad note

Deirdre here. Tragedy struck my sweetie recently, and she wanted to say a few words :

I lost my mother suddenly this weekend, from heart failure. She died the way she wanted, quickly, just way to soon.

I'll miss her dearly: her warmth, her love, her pride of her children, the way she was happy with every little gift she received.

She was a simple woman, she loved you or she didn't, if she didn't you would be in no doubt she didn't, but if she did she would spoil you rotten.

And spoil us she did, making sure we never lacked anything, always giving, never asking for anything.

We said our last goodbyes today. It didn't seem right to write about some clothes today, normal services will be resumed tomorrow.

Deirdre, my love, i want to thank you for your support these past few days, holding me tightly while i silently wept in your arms.

One final word, "Mom i love you and i always will, you'll be missed, but always in my thoughts"

and a final song... with the English lyrics for those of you who don't understand German....

Intellectual Property

We were recently enlightened about content theft by a well-informed designer, and boy was it a shock.

So we decided to share our feelings on the subject, and link to a few good resources we found.

Anything valuable in Second Life is the result of work. Lots and lots of painstaking work.

Someone knowledgeable, creative and patient spent a lot of time making that hair, those boots, or whatever.

They are entitled to be rewarded for their work.

Unlike the music industry, in SL, there is no fatcat distributor getting rich off the artist's work.

When you steal, you steal directly from the designer.

When a thief takes a copy for themselves, it's bad enough. They don't pay the designer, and get the fruit of his or her labor.

But when that thief turns around and sells the stolen goods, it's even worse.

They make a profit off the work of the designer, and the designer loses a sale.

How long would you keep working if your employer told you you weren't getting paid?

If designers get discouraged by content theft and stop creating, we all lose.

Support designers if you like their work.

Refuse to buy from individuals walking up to you in stores, and report them to Linden Labs.

We found a few good links for anyone who wants more information.

If you have more, send them our way and we'll add them.
