Elixir - Serpent

Deirdre:
As I promised in our last Elixir post, here's some fashions for the boys : an extremely neat outfit called Serpent, modeled by Seph Ishelwood, one of the friendly models we met during LFFW.

(Seph is dependable and zero-fuss : I recommend him wholeheartedly.)

Elixir has a space theme, as well as fetish. I'd say this is the perfect outfit for a slave boy on a space station.. but you'll have to supply your space shoes, none are included. ;)

Beautifully detailed textures, the top in 3 clothes layers so you have options. Numerous colors, as you can see in the ad we snagged.

This store is definitely worth a visit. Tell them lelo sent you, that ought to confuse them.

lelo:Great use of texturing and prims in this one and an amazing fresh design from Khorus Magne.

The pads in the texture give the clothes a good 3D look, i had to really zoom in to check if he hadn't used prims.

The cutouts are really revealing and give the outfit a very sexy look, first time i see a good sexy outfit for men in SL, could be i didn't give them that much attention till now. *winks*

The thing that really stands out with this outfit, no not that part, are the prim leggings which give the outfit it's unique look.

So guys, if you want to show your sexy side get one of these, the girls will love it, well i do anyway... *smiles*

Latex Station - Full Latex Suit Tea Transparent

Deirdre:
This is the last of the "new line" from Latex Station in my wardrobe.

We started introducing those a while back, faithful readers will recall.

(Unfaithful readers can click here to read previous Latex Station posts, wink wink)

It's called Tea, and it's a 12 piece outfit, with a choice of black thong or transparent underpants-layer catsuit bottom.

The lace-and-latex corset is quite striking. You can wear it without the transparent catsuit top; it's a hair low but covers the nipples.

The choker, arm and wrist bands are a fun touch, perhaps unnecessary, but since they're all the same in different sizes, you can shuffle them around as you please.

The skirt is a neat combination of "fishnet" and opaque panels.

This is a unique outfit that will draw the eye anywhere you go.

lelo:Here is another fun design by Latex Station, a good combination of lace, latex, silks and fishnet.

The details on the suspenders are amazingly well done, almost a pity to hide them under the dress.

The lace panels on the body look like they took ages to make, time well spent i would say.

Once again it seems BAX patent ankle boots go great with all latex costumes by Latex Station.

Only problem i see with this one is that it will be hard to fit in at a tea party. *winks*

KK - Sculpted Feet Latex Strap Sandals

Deirdre:
You know how I love a good exclusive : how's "just released today" for fresh news?

Introducing Kayliwulf's FetishDoll X Sculpted Feet Latex Strap Pumps.

Toe sandals are all the rage - it's great to see real toes instead of the ugly standard "sock" feet on our avatars.

These Kayliwulf shoes compare favorably to other toe sandals that sell for three times the price - I'm not naming names ;)

The ankle strap helps you hide the joint between foot and leg, and the sandals are available in all 42 Kayliwulf flavors - er, colors.

The toenails are tinted to match the sandal, a fun detail.

Word from a usually reliable source (a certain Mr Lazarus L.) is, more shoes will be coming from Kayliwulf in the very near future - stay tuned to this blog!

lelo:
The heel looks amazingly good and the foot shape is very natural, if steep, but that's a good thing in my book. *smiles*

i love the red foot-bed of the shoe, giving it a nice little accent.

The skin color can be adjusted with a easy to use HUD, though as i've been using a KK skin from almost the beginning i could use the default setting.

The shoes have the usual KK menu for sound, bling and AO.

With a prim load of 23 per shoe the linden servers will love these shoes, so we better all switch to them to reduce the overall lag inSL. *winks*

Which Cart?

So, you want to get yourself (or your pony) a cart - but which one?

There are a few different kinds. Most common is the "vehicle" type of cart.

The pony "sits" on a pose ball located between the shafts of the cart, then the driver (and possibly passengers) sit in the cart.

The pony uses the arrow keys to move the cart around the sim.

A cart usually seats between 1 and 4 passengers.

There are also multi-pony carts; these allow two to four ponies to pull the same cart, although only one pony will usually control.

There are now a few multi-pony carts that share the control of speed and direction between two ponies.

These require good coordination and teamwork to negotiate the trails of SL.

Less common is the "follow" cart.

This cart is rezzed by the pony, and the cart then follows the pony from a set distance, including jumping over obstacles or even flying.

They are easier to control, more maneuverable, and are much better at cross country carting.

Those are methods of rezzing and controlling the carts.

Here are the kinds of cart, based on their purpose and looks :

The sulky is the small, light weight, single seater cart used for racing.

A buggy is a more comfortable ride but a little heavier for the pony to pull.

A coach is much heavier, and probably better used when you have a team of ponies available... or one very strong pony. ;)

So which cart to get? Depends on the task, and your tastes. I got every model I could, but you don't have to do that.

I'll go into a little more detail about the types of carts in coming posts.

Alessandra - Chain Hot Suit & Dress Pink

Deirdre:
Alessandra is one of the designers who showed at the LFFW. While chatting with lelo, she made a very smart suggestion, and we pounced on it.

Recognizing (and stealing!) good ideas is almost as good as having them yourself.

She suggested we review the Chain suit and dress, not because it's brand new, but because it's her top seller.

New is great and all, but popular is also interesting to know if you're a shopper.

Hence, the not new but popular Chain outfit. It's fun in a bare, peek-a-boo way - not my favorite, as anyone looking at lelo and myself will have guessed.

Is it disco? A little bit, I think. Well, the eighties are in, this week. Pick one up and dance the night away!

lelo:
For our first item from Alessandra we took her all time best sold item, chain hot suit and dress, which has been around for a while but still looks fresh.

As you would expect from the name you get two versions a dress and pantsuit, both share the same top, but give a totally different look.

The dress is ultra short and uses a nicely textured prim part to overcome the shortcomings of the standard SL short skirts.

The pants have a nice chain detail on the right leg, making them extra sexy.

The top doesn't leave much to the imagination but covers the vital area's.

Alessandra uses a very good looking texture which has a slight shine and a very good fade from light at the top to dark at the bottom.

Addictions - Dangerous

Deirdre:
Dangerous... what a great name for this gorgeous outfit from Addictions.

You get : two guns, a dagger in your left boot, some rope on your belt (I thought it was a whip - silly me), a silver cross (to keep Bloodlines creeps away), with some cool claws on the silver chain.. bullets, grenades..

Oh, and a really cool outfit, too ;)

Lots of straps and buckles everywhere - which I love, a wicked trench coat over a catsuit - Underworld, anyone?

In fact, it looks like Dangerous is the favorite outfit of Nightshade, the Metaverse's First Secret Agent :

lelo:
here is another great new one from Marijane, you just have to love the things she comes up with.

The partly prim trench coat looks great, though loses something due to the black on black effect.

For ease of fitting all the prims have a resizing script, no shooting script in the guns though. *winks*

The sturdy boots go great with the outfit but i rather see Mistress in some nice heels.

I just wonder what we'll be hunting when Mistress puts on this on. *smiles*

It's amazing to watch how Marijane's skills seem to improve exponentially.

Squeaky Rubber - Circuit Catsuit

Today is a pretty amazing day for us.

One year ago today, we began this little blog, dipping in our inventories and sharing with you the cool stuff we had found here and there.

There are so many places and vendors, it's pretty hard to see everything in Second Life. We get shopping exhaustion!

But the joy of meeting the cool folks who make the great clothes and boots and toys hasn't paled, and it looks like we'll keep at this for a long time.

Here's hoping you're having as much fun reading us as we do writing it every day.

Happy birthday to us, happy birthday to us, happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to us...

Cake for every one...

Deirdre & lelo

Deirdre:
Squeaky Rubber never ceases to delight us.

Introducing the Circuit line of catsuits - I'm sad to say they've been sitting in our closet for a month, but I plead busy on LFFW.

The color combinations are awesome, the white in particular just blew my mind.

The price is very reasonable for the excellent quality.. go on, get a couple. Or go nuts, and get them all ;)

lelo:
Now here is something you don't see every day, a fun texture on a catsuit, and it continues the robotic theme we had yesterday.

A simple 4 piece outfit in underwear layer, so you can use it as a base for other clothing.

They come in 4 fun color combinations, something for every one i think.

The shine is somewhere between POC and Kayliwulf and the texture that gives the catsuit it's name gives it a futuristic look.

So if you love to run around the space sim's or are into cybernetics these are for you and if you are simply looking for a good looking catsuit.. well go ahead and buy them. *winks*

Kayliwulf Kingdom - Palace Guard

Deirdre:
Introducing Palace Guard, Kayliwulf's newest design.

It's wildly original: a shiny robot look over a transparent latex catsuit.

I suppose it is meant to look like armor, but the first thing I thought about when I saw this outfit was Sorayama's Sexy Robot art.

The boots look terrific, sporting the #4 heel we love, and the shine doesn't hurt one bit.

If you get a few girls dressed in this outfit - to guard your palace or whatever - drop me a line, I absolutely want to see it :)

lelo:
So this is what a female Cylon must look like, "by your command...", hmmm sounds natural to me. *winks*

This is a 16 part outfit which has only 3 clothlayer parts, so it seems Laz has been busy with prims.

As with all prim clothes it takes a while to get them to fit right and a good pose stand is a must.

The scripting in the prims helps with the fitting as all have a scaling function, for the separate prims or all the prims in the object.

The shoe shape is great, as is the helmet, which i love, the chestplate is lethal but a nice touch.

Keep an oil can handy and have some robotic fun with this outfit. *smiles*

Training Your Pony

So you have dressed yourself, your pony, obtained a nice riding crop or buggy whip - perhaps even obtained the steering HUD to direct your pony.

What now?

I would advise the training circle, or whip circle as it is also known, as a good place to start.

The reins are hitched to a pole in the center of the circle and given about 10 meters of leeway. This should allow the pony to stand on the circular path around the circle.

The idea is the trainer stands in the center, and using the whip commands, trains the pony to respond to the audible signals, Rather than voice commands. This is in preparation for pulling a cart.

The Xcite! buggy whip comes with the whip commands on it - otherwise a steering HUD is your best aid here as a trainer.

The pony starts on a mark on the circular track if there is one, otherwise at any point, and faces the trainer.

At this point the trainer should make use of the whip commands. 1 crack of the whip in the air, signals the pony to go. 2 cracks of the whip is to stop. 3 is turn left and 4 right.

Some use 5 cracks of the whip to tell the pony the training session is over and to come to the center of the circle.

To start the pony off, while they are still facing the trainer, a left or right turn command is given. Followed by the go command.

Randomly, the trainer then gets the pony to turn left or right, stop and go on command.

Invariably this may well turn into the trainer trying to trick the pony into stopping, then go without a turn. Or to stop, then turn left, then right, then go then stop and so on.

To avoid stressing the pony, encouragement should be given, and sessions kept short but frequent.

And once your pony is confident here, it is then a simple matter to hitch them to a cart, and try the commands out on the road.

Elixir - Latex Raincoat

Deirdre:
Elixir is one of the designers who participated in the LFFW, and we just had to go see for ourselves what other goodies were at the store.

First thing that caught my eye when we came in was this lovely latex raincoat.

Khorus told me that the transparent version was inspired by Blade Runner, so here's the link to the video. (just the link - you may remember that this is the scene where Zhora gets killed.)

This is a really detailed item. I thought the whole thing was prim when I first saw it - it's that good. But there's a jacket layer, so you'll want to plan your outfits accordingly.

The big upturned collar is great, and along with the cuffs, gives the "solid" effect. Adjust the height and position to fit your shape - easily done.

And I don't want to give away any future posts, but we've seen a lot of great men's wear at Elixir, and we now know some good male models.. stay tuned ;)

lelo:
This was a new one for us, latex raincoats isn't something you see much around SL.

The box contains 5 parts making up the raincoat, it uses the jacket cloth layer and 4 prim items making up the collar, cuffs and flexy skirt tails.

The shine of the latex is quite good, the transparent version has a slight tint so you can just see it.

The flexy skirt really makes this jacket come alive and hardly needed any adjustment.

Anyone know a rainy sim we can go to try these out?

Mesmerize Dungeon - Gasmask

Deirdre:
A wild new design from Mesmerize Dungeon, called simply Gasmask. The name is the only thing that is plain about it, though.

The look varies from a plain gas mask with air filter, to the pretty kinky rebreather, to the outrageous and huge alien horns (not pictured, we'll leave you the surprise!).

The prims are detailed and attractive - the buckles at the back are a good example. And as lelo pointed out to me, they face the right way ;)

Texture is good, and the joint between the face and head pieces shows very nice attention to detail.

A great toy for the RLV fans and other assorted bondage bunnies of SL.

lelo:
Another new toy in my collection, Mistress is spoiling me. *smiles*

As with the ballet boots from MD the scripting is solid and you get loads of options.

First of all you get the usual RLV options and i won't go into them here.

Then there are the look options, the spikes on the mask and collar can be turned on and off, there are a pair of alien horns.

You can choose a re-breather as shown, a filter or just the mask.

Most parts can be colored in the following colors: red, white, yellow, orange, pink. purple, blue, gray, green and black, luckily there is a "all" button.

Then there are the restricting options, speech can be garbled in 4 strictness levels, there is an alien mode (going with the horns i guess) in which only other gas-mask wearing people can hear you.

Your sight can be restricted with a HUD in 7 levels.

More than enough options to keep you busy for weeks if not months. *winks*

I would love to go on about all the options, but we want to keep these posts under 1 page of text, so better get your own mask and start exploring...

WarDoom - Natalie

Deirdre:
One of these two must be the evil twin.. I just don't know which one ;)

Introducing Natalie, Wardoom's latest line of lower priced boots.

We just laid hands on them Sunday. New, new, new!

This is the bare version, the trademark Wardoom spikes and straps will be added on upcoming versions.

The knees look quite good when lelo sits - sadly we've seen other boots that look a bit odd that way.

I love the new heel, it's quite elegant. Another win for Wardoom.

lelo:
Finally a new boot by WarDoom, these are totally new, well mostly.

Tanja recycled the script of the Elfe boots, so you can control the gloss, sound and if the boot has a heel.

The heel is new and looks very lethal so everything is good there. *winks*

I would advise you to get the latex versions shown here, they have a new texture that looks very good.

A promising start to a new series of boots, i can't wait untill Tanja makes her spike and belt magic happen.

Ohh and Tanja is planning to make her first platform boots in this series, but don't tell her i told you, all still hush, hush.... smiles*

Kayliwulf Kingdom - Stealth Corps

Deirdre:
An oldie this week : Stealth Corps, from Kayliwulf Kingdom.

Inspired by the fifties science-fiction pulp covers, the helmet, jet pack and "gravity gun" nicely complement the outfit.

Of course, if you want an authentic pulp look, you'll wear a transparent catsuit and hold an arm in front of your breasts ;)

We haven't suggested this one in a while so I'll remind you : costume contests!

lelo:
This is an oldie but goodie and in time for this years Halloween.

The 16-part outfit comes complete with grey boots and gloves which end in black prim tops, giving them a 3D look.

The belt looks like a chastity belt, and that's not a bad thing. *winks*

The helmet looks great against a light background, but be aware that it doesn't work with long hair, so i wore my hood (not included!).

An air-tank and gun complete the look, "... Recreant,... lelo Recreant..", sorry couldn't let that one go by. *smiles*

All in all, a fun outfit, i especially like the way the grey of the gloves and boots look

Carts

Ok, so now you or your pony have researched and purchased your tack, and perhaps even had a little practise at slalom, steeple and carting. What should you do next?

Well, from my personal experience, the easiest, and perhaps one of the more fun elements for most ponies, is getting to grips with your own cart.

Rental ones are available on some of the pony sims, or a few left conveniently for the use of the passing ponies, but, your own personal cart is perhaps something to consider.

After all, why take a cab everywhere, if you have your own car?

Which cart is the best? There is no easy answer to that. All the carts available in SL offer something that more suits one, but not the next.

You need to work what kind of use your cart will get :

  • How many ponies are you going to have pulling it?
  • How many passengers?
  • Will you be keeping to flat roads, or venturing over rough terrain?
  • Do you require a cart that the pony "sits" on a poseball to pull, or do you want one that "follows" the pony?
  • Is speed or maneuverability your most essential requirement?
  • Do you want to be able to change the colour of the cart?
  • and perhaps most importantly of all, what is your budget?
Most of the carts will fit be around L$500, though there are more expensive ones.

And trainers or owners, why not get yourself a nice buggy whip to let your pony know where you want them to go?

Xcite offer a buggy whip which includes the whip crack commands, and Sensations offer a coach whip, although this does not include the commands.

Not to worry though, as there are a couple of steering Huds designed to offer you ease of commanding your pony.

Two such HUDs can be found in the tack shop at Frilly Filly Farm - including the one I had made specially to help with blindfold pony training.

One of the most important thing to check with any cart is is : it copy enabled?

I have lost more than one cart from a sim which was no copy, and that really annoys me.

You spend ages deciding on which cart to get, you forego that lovely new latex catsuit or formal gown, and get a cart.

Then, as you cross a sim border, the cart spins off into the nether regions of SL, never to reappear.

My advice is : if it isn't copyable, don't get it. No transfer is fine, even no mod, but no copy is just a risk you don't need to take.

Latex Station - Nerea

Deirdre:
That's a few more spikes than lelo usually wears, but it looks good : introducing is Nerea, from Latex Station.

The camo colors are pretty authentic, I think. If you need to hide in a snowy mountain, this is for you ;)

Like other Latex Station outfits we covered - seems like months ago! - Nerea comes in three colors : 531, shown here, a cool blue version called 744, and a yellow-brown-green one called 326.

Couples who dress alike will be pleased : there are male versions, in more colors. What, men have more to hide? ;)

lelo:
14 piece latex outfit from latex station, another one in our combat series. *winks*

lots of tough looking spiked belts with this one and the spikes on the gloves are a great feature.

You get the choice of 3 tops with this one, a long and a short camo top and a mesh shirt which can be worn under the long camo shirt.

The knife on the thigh belt is a fun detail, though i'm not the violent kind, it might come in handy at the next sales.

The theme of the outfit calls for combat boots, but i combined it with the N-Core Stylus heels, just to make it a bit more sexy. *smiles*

SHi Sexy Fashion - Pepper Short Boots

Deirdre:
I don't have that many ankle boots, so it's great to find this cute pair from SHi.

They are not new, if I read the note in the box correctly (and that note is pure genius : one thing SL misses is some sort of date system on items).

And when I say pair, well. One pair is 186L$, and the "Big Pack" is 286L$ for six colors. Your basic no-brainer ;)

There's a neat sound control menu for when you fly, land, crouch, and so on. Load your sounds in, and they will play. The menu is on the usual right-boot click.

This is a great boot, with excellent texture and prim details like the straps, laces, and slightly ominous O-rings at the back (SHi makes a *lot* of bondage gear!)

lelo:
This is another one of those see them, love them, buy them boots.

We saw these on one of the many well dressed guest at Twisted Orchid.

With most designers you can see the family lines but Sweel's work isn't like that so it's fun finding her name in the designers slot.

At the store we are once again amazed at Sweel's low prices and especially the six pack is something you just can't beat.

The freebie is still the lovely suspenders and stockings from the last time we visited, great for the reader that didn't get them last time.

Did we mention the big doll?? *winks*

LFFW Outfits 8 - final

This is the last post of the Latex Fetishwear Fashion Week.

Before we started, I had a vision of showing more outfits, once we had hit every designer once... but between the logistics and the absence of description - which, let's face it, is the point of our blog - we decided to end the posts after this first round.

We hope you enjoyed this quick look at all those great designers, and we'll try to show you some of their work in more detail in the coming weeks.

On this first picture we have lelo wearing Jaqueline's Manga in black latex with BAX ankle boots in red patent.

Here we have lelo in the black Tokon ballet boots by Eye-Catcher completed with KCreations red catsuit and a Kayliwulf Kingdom red latex hood.

And in the final picture, the organizer of the LFFW event, Lexie Jansma, modeling AW Design's Jax in Venetian red, with AW's Courtx shoes also in Venetian red.

Kayliwulf Kingdom - Sunset Red

Deirdre:
A lovely evening gown in red with a touch of black, this is Sunset Red by Kayliwulf Kingdom.

I'm really getting used to the prim ruffles. We've seen them before from KK, and they turn a clothes-layer skirt into a much more interesting item.

The shoes are fun. The heel is not my favorite type, but definitely original.

The bra cup actually covers the nipple, so you can wear this outfit for ballroom dancing ;)

lelo:
Great new 13-part outfit by Kayliwulf in the classic red and black.

The Mermaid hobble dress looks great with the flexy prim ruffles, especially the black showing though gives them something extra, as does the black bra which is part of the top.

You also get a pair of long red gloves, a pair of latex stocking with a red top and some tiny red panties.

Another nice feature of this outfit are the new Funky Strap Pumps, which look higher and have a new heel.

Finally you'll find a special KK Hobble ZHAO-II AO, which has a couple of fun, and copy/trans, poses and walk that go great with the dress.

So the only thing missing is a way to lock you into this dress.... ohh a RLV relay could take care of that... hmm imagine the possibilities... *winks*

Jodhpurs or Chaps?

So you now have your pony tacked up, but you can't really stand around a farm wearing a ballgown or designer dress, so, what to wear?

For just mucking around in the stables, or on the farm in general, a nice pair of jeans, some wellingtons or riding boots and a sports jacket or quilted vest are great.

Or for a more western or cowboy/girl feel, why not go with jeans, chaps, cowboy boots and a check shirt?

Perhaps the most traditional jodhpurs, blouse or shirt and hunting jacket are more your style? SL has them all.

By far the easiest place to get almost all your equestrian fashion from is E Watkins as mentioned previously.

Maison Broceliande has some excellent riding breeches for L$400.

Hoof It! also do a nice range of jodhpurs and other riding wear and they also stock a wonderful grooming kit, however, other places also have some fantastic items.

Or perhaps you like to race ponies, in which case, some jockey wear might be more tempting? Visit the Scotland shop's 6th floor.

Latex riding gear or for a strict trainer style, a Victorian riding habit?

Metronome do some wonderful jockey boots priced at L$350.

Adam and Eve store has some lovely plain riding boots in the bargain basement for just L$100.

Riding crops, perhaps a buggy or coach whip and a steering HUD are also an added bonus to enhance your ability to direct the pony.
