Pony Gear

You should be prepared to spend up to L$2000 for good quality tack, though you can get starter kits from as little as free, which is my favorite price.

Though if you are a shopping addict like me, don't expect much change out of L$50,000 if you get carried away buying one of everything.

The essential core of a pony's tack should be a bridle, hooves and tail.

A harness is also a good thing to have, and there are some good ones on clothing layers at a reasonable price.

My favorite for all things pony is Morbid Play. While it is not the cheapest store, it is one of the more well-stocked.

Owners or trainers looking for suitable outfits would do well to look around regular horseriding supplies stores.

For example, E. Watkins offer some of the finest jodhpurs, chaps and riding hats I have yet seen, and Hoof it! offer some wonderful grooming accessories.

There are lots of good pony items to buy, from your one-rider racing sulky, to a 4-passenger, 4-pony carriage to saddles, bridles, harnesses, hooves and tails.

Some of these include Restrained Life scripts for further security, restriction or realism. Great for creating lasting bonds with pony and Owner too.

I'll cover RLV in more detail next week.

Ashpodele - Ballet Boots Bombee

Some cool little ballet boots from Ashpodele today. This is the bombee model, with an eighties ankle-boot look.

Very good prim details like laces and straps and locks and rings.. you know by now how much I like that kind of thing.

Ashpodele is a great little store. Drop by for a look, and pick up the freebie gags - I forgot to mention those last time!

As we told you in our post about the gags they have at Ashpodele, they also make some good looking balletboots.

Well here they are, we're showing the ankle high bombee version in black and red, there is also a shorter (little) version that allows the use of ankle shackles.

The scripting is simple but solid, giving you a the option to expose the boots to the public, self-lock or you can appoint an owner.

You can also put a nice little chain between the shoes, and the little lock you see when they are locked are lovely.

The toe-box is a bit pointy for my taste, but aren't a simple copy, so that's good.

The heel looks great, i love the way the tip is made, the red laces and belts finish the boots and complete the look.

These boots are a great alternative to the usual Fairlights or WarDooM balletboots.

Squeaky Rubber - Latex DOT

A cool catsuit from Squeaky Rubber, this is DOT.

The neat changeover from one color to the other is naggingly familiar.. if anyone knows where it's from, please leave a comment!

Good shine, lovely color choice, and reasonable price. Hard to go wrong here :)

The DOT comes in 4 underwear layer parts, and we have chosen the red/black combo here, Elisa offer quite a few color options and will do special requests.

For some extra lindens you can have your own emblem on your catsuit, instead of the SR one that's there now.

The effect of going from squares to dot's is nicely done as is the general shine on the latex, this is the slightly older DarkSeed, not as deep as POC's shine but getting close.

Note the fun little spots on the feet, nice little detail, which got me out of my ballets for a little while. *wiggles her toes*

This is the basis for a great outfit, the dot's make it really stand out, just add the right toy's and you'll look great.

Storm Schmooz - Overknee Black

Deirdre:
An excellent pair of shiny thigh boots from Storm Schooz. Once again, a happy surprise, small and large calf and overknee parts.

The store has excellent shoes, and we nearly missed those boots, tucked in a corner of the store.

The shine texture is really great in front and on the sides, but the back is bit dark.

The foot shape is original, and the heel is sharp. The boots are also available in a very good snake print, which makes a much lighter boot, almost silver-looking.

Think Storm put a snake on his scanner? ;)

Do have a look at the elegant shoes when you visit the store.

Pony Etiquette

Our lovely pony model : Annelies Fratica

One thing to remember in pony play, is it is generally considered incorrect to talk in public chat if your bit is fitted, and in some sims, could get the pony punished.

Once the bridle and bit are fitted, there should be no public chat. Communication is in the form of hoof or foot stomps, whinnies, and body language.

This is where a pony can emote to try to convey a message, though should try to refrain from "ponypathy" - thinking their thoughts aloud in such a way it might as well be talking normally.

Flying is also a no-no. Changing in or out of tack on your own, and not in a stall, is also something to avoid doing.

Ponies have hooves, not hands, so opening doors or gates is not something you should do either, so be warned.

Ponies generally will be given sugar or fruit as treats, remember, a whole apple might be tricky to bite into if you still have your bit fitted. And let's not forget that you won't be able to hold it either.

Obviously, some sims are more relaxed on these rules than others but if you plan to be a good pony, you should bear these facts in mind.

You ever try to undo a zipper when wearing hooves on your hands? Or unlocking and unbuckling a harness strap? If you are correctly tacked up, then you simply won't be able to.

Whilst ponies are considered submissives, they are not usually required to kneel at their owner's feet like other submissives or slaves. Ponies will generally stand most if not all of the time, and so if your reins are held by an owner or trainer, the pony should stand just behind the rein holder, waiting to be led around.

Similarly, trainers or even curious bystanders should avoid using a whip as anything more than an accessory. Whilst some ponies might crave the touch of a crop, common decency and respect should be used.

Ponies are curious animals, but also tend to be rather skittish creatures, and not usually keen to be mauled by strangers.

That said, have some sugar or apple slices handy, offer it to the pony, and let the pony come to you before attempting even to stroke their mane.

They will appreciate the thought, and patience, and perhaps that will enable you to build some rapport with pony.

Abranimations : Free Whips

Abranimations is a huge animations place.

You may know them from roller skates and water balloons, among other things.

They also have a naughty side, and some good free floggers, canes and a wicked-sounding bullwhip, all for free. Look for this sign : BDSM ROOM in "adult poses".

To use them, just left-click in front of you. Anywhere except on the whip. Pretty easy, you'll be a whip expert in three clicks.

The whips are meant to interact with the bondage toys and genitalia made by Abranimations.

Squeaky Rubber - xWave Swimsuit IceBlue

A lovely and original swimsuit from Squeaky Rubber, this is the xWAVE.

It's more than just a swimsuit, to be fair. It comes with gloves and stockings - and if you wear those to go swimming, call me over sometime ;)

There is also a cool twist included in the box : dry and wet versions! The wet is droplet-splattered, and in a slightly brighter tint than the dry version.

Both are available as underwear and pants-shirt layers. There is also a little net skirt for your après-swim lounging ;)

The swimsuit comes in: purple, red, green, black, pink, white, blue and iceblue (worn here).

Elisa will make any color on request, and will also do monograms or other custom work - so long as she's not swamped, she says.

One of our friends told us about this new latex designer she found and gave us a SLURL to the shop.

The clothes we saw were quite good so we contacted Elisa, luckily she was on.

She tp'ed us to the real store, which was in a sky box above where we were standing.

VvB Stiletto Heels - Oxford Shoes

We went from thigh boots to ankle boots with VvB.. well, here's the Oxford shoe version of her excellent platform boot

lelo's in red again for contrast. These shoes could be worn with stockings, if you have a lingerie doll rather than a rubber doll as I do.

This is an advance review, the shoes will be available next week at Viktoria's shops.

Another great pair of shoes by VvB, the 8" Oxford platforms.

These shoes have the usual platform and extreme heel that are Viktoria's trademark.

The scripting is simple but offers you control over the lace color, AO and heel sound.

As usually with VvB shoes i just have to slip them on, the fit is perfect each and every time.

They are quite comfortable when you are used to ballets, but these shoes are not for the casual heel wearer.

Still, like Mistress says, they will look great on stockinged feet.

Kayliwulf Kingdom - Black Glass

Well, I haven't felt quite this shiny in a while ;)

Introducing Black Glass, by Kayliwulf Kingdom : a 16-piece full outfit of glossy, glossy black latex.

The boots have the new #5 heels which we first saw in Daughter of Comedy, and a metal toe tip. The usual menu to control AO, heel sound and bling is in the boot heel.

There's a bunch of great little prim details like laces at the back and on the posture collar, and legs and arm straps everywhere.

As usual, you can mix and match the parts with other outfits if you want, but this is such a great combination that I bet you'll just want to wear it like this.

Pony Activities

Today I'll cover some activities that a pony can be expected to participate in :

Pulling a cart, or carting, is perhaps one of the easiest aspects to get into, as the carts do the most of the work.

All the pony really has to do is steer and control the speed. Some owners or trainers direct pony by using only whip commands. This helps keep the pony paying attention.

I have recently had a special cart steering HUD made, to help direct the pony more accurately only by whip commands, with the idea of training ponies on carting while blindfolded. This is not something for the faint-hearted, or the inexperienced to try.

Saddle ponies are much the same as cart ponies, only the rider is a little closer to the business end. This is much less commonly seen around the farms, ranches and stables of SL.

Steeplechase is a race against the clock, jumping hedges, fences and various other obstacles and is actually much harder than it looks at first. With a little practice, you will soon be getting good times on the course.

Slalom simply involves a short run (walk really in SL to keep a standard across the various pony sims) weaving between poles, and this is usually timed. Touching one of the poles imposes a time penalty. Again, this is not as easy as it looks but with practice, a perfect run in a good time will soon follow.

Dressage is perhaps the least common pony activity, though is the best in my opinion for a pony to show off at. This involves precision walking on the pony’s part around a set number of walks: from a simple figure 8 around the white lines, to a slalom, to a short straight line walk. Easy? Try it sometime and see for yourself.

Barrel racing is a reasonably new thing in pony play, and simply involves running or walking around 3 fixed barrels, without touching them, and across the start/finish line as quickly as possible.To get good times, you need to get close going around the barrels, but too close and you touch them - imposing a time penalty.

One of the most enjoyable activities for a pony, is the act of dressing the pony in their tack, and of grooming and bathing after an extensive session.

There are obviously still other activities which can involve a pony, one of which, if you can find a willing victim, is fox hunting. Though this is a rarer event, it is something I would like to consider expanding on. I have participated once in this activity, and it is rather good fun.

Next week we will take a look at some basic pony etiquette.

Rubber Kittens - Frilly Maid

This is not a recent outfit, but it is a lot of fun if you're into heavy rubber.

There's a lot of white latex frills, apron and petticoats. A good mix of black and white, and good details on the cloth layer like harness straps joined by a O ring at the back.

The "lenses" on the eye holes of the hood give a distinctive look. If you're into objectification, this is definitely for you.

An attractive and practical outfit for the maid who wants every inch of skin covered when she works.

Now here is a way to make your doll useful, a nice rubber maids outfit.

Rubber Kittens offers a complete outfit, including everything you need including shape and skin, great for when you just start out.

The prim parts are aligned to the include shape but with a little bit of work you can adjust it to fit your own shape.

The underwear layer comes in a covered for PG and transparent version for Adult play.

I like the rubber lips gag, which could use a simple gag script, but i'm unsure what to think about the goggles.

I would suggest adding some better boots to the outfit, but the included boots work with the theme.

The store offers a nice Hypnotron for it's customers to use, funnily there are only bimbo scripts in it, not a nice rubberdoll one, still a very nice gesture.

I better get back to dusting our condo or i'm in for a spanking......hmmmm... *winks*

Dari's Haus Closes

We interviewed Darien Caldwell recently.

She is now concerned enough about the coming changes to adult content and privacy in Second Life that she is closing her store.

I encourage you to read the details on her site, but basically, Linden Labs is responding to US government pressure.

We are apparently expected to give up a large portion of our privacy because the American Congress is concerned that parents aren’t preventing their children from engaging in pretend sex in a 3D game.

Darien is the first designer we hear about who is taking this step. We sincerely wish her well, and respect her decision.

In a gesture of admirable generosity, she is releasing her creations in the public domain.

Ashpodele - Inflatable Gag

A lovely pump-gag from Ashpodele.. we haven't seen too many of those around, which is a pity cause they're really fun.

Psht, psht, psht! ;) Lovely realistic sound when you inflate the bladder, and fun gagged moans when you click the rest of the gag.

The release wheel also makes a fun sound. This is a really lovely toy, and I can't wait to show it off to one of our friends in particular.

I think lelo will have a sore jaw before I get bored with this toy.

Toy corner time again *smiles*

For a change it was me who saw this one and wanted to have it.

Ashpodele was new to me but i was utterly amazed at the different gags they offer, including a pretty nice freebie.

This gag is quite amazing, the prim work is good and texturing is of a high quality, but it's the scripting that makes these gags stand out.

It has the usual owner/(time)lock and RLV options, but the fun is in the sounds this gag makes.

First touching the pump makes it work and you hear it pumping, touch the wheel and you hear the air escaping.

When you talk (on channel 3) your speech is twisted like you moan into the gag and you hear some gagged speech.

Another nice feature is that your mouth opens more when the gag is inflated, very realistic.

The shop has a nice clean layout and they also sell some lovely balletboots *smiles*

Kayliwulf Kingdom - Rising Sun

A lovely white kimono with long sleeves from Kayliwulf this week, here's Rising Sun... and since it's white, we couldn't use our usual white background, so we shot against the rising sun ;)

There wasn't really any point in a back shot, so lelo and I both modeled it to show how it looks on different body types.

All Kayliwulf outfits are transferable, if we haven't mentioned that before.

The hair sticks are a nice touch.. hope you have a hairdo that matches ;)

A reasonably demure outfit for when you need just a touch of fetish.

A very nice Japanese themed outfit from Lazarus, you get a very nice cloth-layer long dress in white latex.

The shoes are nice but they have better looking ones, good thing you won't wear them inside. *winks*

The long sleeves are a nice touch as is the nice belt, but the best thing are the chop sticks for your hair. *smiles*

The white latex has some red cherry blossom as added contrast on the bottom of the dress, the sleeves, belt and chopsticks.

So find a nice Japanese tea house, find a nice pillow to sit on and enjoy your tea, you'll fit in perfectly.

New Column : Pony Correspondent

Deirdre here - We're introducing a new column today : Jaydana Thorne is our new Pony Correspondent, and will be covering the pony scene every week. We mentioned her briefly some weeks back, and here she is to tell us a bit more about herself :

Thank you for having me, and what a privilege it is too. I'm basically just a regular, fun-loving Englishwoman that enjoys the fetish side of things here in Second Life.

Particularly pony play, both as a pony, and a trainer. I have spent much of my time since joining Seconnd Life around pony play - in fact, it was an SL photo on a website about Pony Play that first brought me here. And I haven't looked back since.

I am now looking forward to what will hopefully be an enlightening and entertaining guide to the Pony scene, covering everything I can think of, from activities, to places to go, how to behave and what to wear. Now, before we begin, let me get a cup of tea :)

What Is Pony Play?

In a nutshell, the pony is a submissive that places themselves in the position of a horse - or a pony - and is treated much as though they were that animal.

This will usually involve some pulling of carts and carriages, dressage, and various kinds of races.

Ponies may also find themselves saddled and ridden, or led around by their reins.

They will also spend time in their stall, waiting for their owner or trainer to take them out.

Some see pony play as a sexual form of roleplay.

Whilst some owners obviously use their ponies for more than just a pet, it is not so common on the dedicated pony sims - but some of the general fetish sims do not discourage such activities.

For me, it is more about the restriction, the submission, and about immersion into the role of a pony.

I won't pretend that while in tack, I don't enjoy being complimented on my appearance – and since most ponies wear very little clothing besides their harness, it helps to be a bit of an exhibitionist.

SHi Sexy Fashion - Python Long Boots

A gorgeous pair of long, long boots from Sweel Honi, these eye-catching beauties have an amazing texture - the folds look very realistic. A menu lets you change the lacing color between a dozen choices.

You also get a box with the small version, which look good on a more slender-legged leather goddess, but are sort of tricky to adjust for a sitting pose. Set the "small" box aside in another folder or you'll be wearing it.

You may spend a moment or five adjusting those boots to fit you just right. I sure did.

It's worth it. ;)

Dari's Haus - Colorable Locking Blindfold-Gag

A beautiful gag and blindfold combination from Dari's Haus, the new aspect being the color script.

Of course being nasty and evil and all, the first thought I had was "hot pink for extra humiliation" ;)

I love the seams, the rivets.. you can just see the attention to detail in everything.

I'll let lelo give her description, and as a bonus, we have a little impromptu interview with Darien Caldwell. As a long-time producer of adult toys, she's understandably concerned by the proposed changes.

You just have to love well scripted and primed toys like this, i do anyway..

This one is another great example of the quality Darien produces, the prim-work looks great the fit is very good, and i love the fact that you use only one attachment for two toys.

I won't go into all the options the gag offers, just a few of the interesting ones.

First there is the HUD that comes with the blindfold, blinding your vision, just leaving your windows visible, so you can talk (if that isn't limited) and do some work for your owner.

Then there is the color option, making it possible to wear the gag with every kind of outfit, using the color prism brings every color in reach.

Of course this it's equipped with RLV support, chat mumbling (sadly still not usable in IM). time-lock function...

A great toy for the talkative doll that needs to be silenced once in a while. *winks*

Darien Caldwell: I started tinkering as soon as I joined, back in Oct 2006, however I didn't officially open Dari's Haus until Feb 2007 DY: "What do you think of the adult content changes?" DC: It will have an effect on everyone involved with adult activities, but probably merchants more than anyone else. DY: Good point. DC: The changes are primarily focused on cleaning up search, and that will hit store owners hardest. DY: Well, if someone is looking for bondage toys, they won't mind checking the adult checkbox, I imagine. DC: Right, but to do that they will need to be either age verified, or have validated their account by buying Lindens from LL or Xstreet. DY: What do you think about being forced to move? DC: Again, this will primarily affect businesses. Your average homeowner will not have to move, even if they have god knows what going on in their home. LL has made it clear your home is not a public area and as long as it's not in search, you can do what you please as long as it's within the Terms of Service. I understand why people are upset, but I think LL has obviously put a lot of thought into this and is trying to take the path of least resistance, and do what will affect the fewest. DY: Do you think a majority of residents mind adult content? DC: The majority, no. I don't think the majority minds. But LL does, and the people they want to encourage to use SL do. So as they own the service, its no surprise they are trying to create a world more hospitable to their desires. DY: There are people suggesting a G area for those who mind the adult content. What do you think of that idea? DC: I don't think that would work. LL already acknowedges that PG areas are in the very minority, Mature is the primary class of area in SL. To try to limit people to PG only would severely restrict their ability to utilise the service. Conversely, the Adult changes do not, people can freely use PG areas if they are adult verified. They just have to restrain themselves a little, pardon the pun. ;) DY: And you'll be right there to help them do that? ;) DC: Absolutely :)

League - Sinaed Boots

Another pair of fashion boots.. what can I say? Fashion is one of my fetishes ;)

They fit nearly perfectly out of the box, and a few clicks of the menu's "smaller" button made them as tight as my Redgrave boots.

The texture is good, and the details (zipper, ankle straps) are impeccable. Good heel height, not extreme.

The menu gives the option to change heel, buckle and zipper (independently of each other) to bronze, silver and gold colors.

Price was very, very reasonable. I've frequently paid more for less.

The store is lovely, very clean and simple layout. You won't have any trouble finding things. And we'll definitely go back - I saw some really hot leather pants... ;)

But that's not where this story ends.. we found the store, which had just moved it seems...

And found a store with the most amazing fashion wear, takes a bit to rezz but it's worth it.

On closer inspection we even found better boots, as the pair we had seen.

Be careful when visiting, you might get greedy and spend more than you would like.

Still it will be more than worth it, great texturing, good prim work and wonderful designs.

Kayliwulf Kingdom - Tender Vittles

A cool pink and white catsuit called Tender Vittles, for mysterious reasons ;)

It's similar to the black Bad Luck outfit we reviewed recently, minus the kitty attributes.

The pink color peeking from between the laces looks a bit odd, but it does show that the boots are open.

This outfit comes with a pretty strict neck corset or posture collar. This isn't a single-purpose outfit like others Kayliwulf has put out.. accessorize and follow your imagination.

You'll get a 13 piece outfit with this one, it's a nice pink and white mix.

First thing you notice is the neck corset... hmm well no, you don't, but i wanted to get you to stop staring at my breasts. *winks*

The catsuit doesn't leave much to the imagination, i'm glad Laz included two pasties, but they don't make it a PG outfit.

On the subject of PG, please leave your vote on: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-2727 and show the lindens how big this little group really is.

We have seen the gloves and boots before in other colors, still love the new type 4 heels, and the laces are a very nice extra.

Ok, hope i can focus your attention on the neck corset, it looks lovely and quite severe, just drop in a good script like the Open Collar one.

Acid and Mala - Black Leather Jacket

Summer's around the corner, time for leather goddesses to get back on their bikes. So I needed a new jacket, and lo! I found a really amazing one at A&M.

It's quite cheap for the amount of stuff you get : there are no less than 19 parts when you receive it!

Once again, I had to make folders in the folder. Putting this thing on right is quite an operation ;)

There are really three jackets in here : sleeves down (called the Basic), sleeves rolled up, or sleeves off, for a vest look.

For all three versions, there's a different clothing layer (sleeve length has to vary, regardless of prims) in jacket and shirt layers.

On Basic and Rolled sleeves, there are versions with and without pockets.

Shoulder straps can be worn with all three versions, but look a bit out of place on the sleeveless vest.

And if that's not enough, the collar can be worn up or down.

The excellent resizer script is included, and as a friend was kind enough to give me the free one, I'll start sticking it in things and testing it very soon :)

By the way : make sure you choose "All Prims" and not just "This Prim" unless you're resizing a specific part of a prim : I chose "This Prim" on the collar, and the snaps stayed behind ;) Easily fixed, fortunately!

Mistress just loves her leather jackets, and i agree she looks wonderful in them.

We saw the jacket at our favorite hangout, Twisted Orchid, and Mistress just needed to get it.

The thing that struck me was the way she managed to get the prim texture so close to the clothes layer.

And talking about the texture, it's one of the best leather textures i've seen to date.

The store has a fun look even or maybe because of the low ceiling.

All in all the perfect gift for a leather goddess.
