LaVa - WaspSuit

We caught a glimpse of the LaVa Wasp Suit at Latexia (I think the dolls are about to make me honorary sister, I spend so much time there) and I thought, we haven’t featured LaVa in a while.. voila.

The outfit is inspired by a pretty awesome fetish drawing by Ed Mironiuk (www.edmironiuk.com, 9th row, 2nd from the left) and I say inspired because Latexania definitely put her own touches on it.

And since the original looked so good with a gas mask and ballet boots, lelo generously agreed to model it the same way. Like that took a whole lot of convincing ;)

The catsuit design is quite spectacular. The black and white segments totally convey the insect body feeling, and a clever insect-eye design on the breasts will give a headache to anyone who stares too long.

The hood looks quite good even without the gas mask, so don’t feel you need to run out and get one. This is an attractive and distinctive outfit on its own.

Dark Refuge has an inconvenient fixed landing zone, so to find the store, go almost due west. LaVa is located behind BlumenStein Enterprises.

Another catchy one tonight, this time by Latexania from LaVa.

You get 13 clothlayer items and one prim in the box, giving you all layers and 2 options for the top.

One closed like in the pictures and one with a fishnet covering, luckily Latexania supplies a pair of pasties to make things more or less PG.

The prim part is a ear cover to hide your ears sticking out of the tattoo layer mask (yay, that’s my own face under it).

The suit comes in all LaVa’s colors: pink, violet, blood, orange, white, red and yellow. Though being a waspsuit, yellow is the way to go.

The LaVa Buckled Corset comes in the same colors and is a great addition to complete the outfit.

So all you need is a stinger and you can buzz off... *winks*

Emelle Latex Fashion - Kristy's Dream and Lucy

A tip from our friend Candi Ragu led us to Emelle, and to some fun and original outfits made of a blend of fishnet and latex.

Mariana Latynina - Em Elle, get it? it took lelo a moment ;) - started designing latex in SL in 2007, and pioneered rendering the shine on latex with software of her own design.

I’m wearing Kristy’s Dream, and lelo has the Lucy outfit in pink. Thanks to Mariana’s friend Kristy for dreaming up the cool texture!

I love the mix of sharp lines and iridescent shine. The neck, sleeves and ankles are finished just like RL fishnet in the bodysuit version, or join with the gloves and stockings in the catsuit version.

Aside from her little shop, she keeps a vendor at Latexia so if you visit the Dolls, give it a look.

And we thought we had seen it all, but once again SL managed to surprise us.

Another old established name that we totally missed, offering an unique translucent latex.

Especially the oily look of Kristy’s dream is amazing, haven’t seen that before.

Lucy comes as you see it on me in underwear- and pants/shirt layer and is completed with matching gloves and stockings.

Kristy dreamed up a bit more than that and comes as a body- and catsuit, once again in both layers as Lucy.

Don’t try to mix the bodysuit with the catsuit gloves and feet, they don’t fit together.

Just like with Squeaky Rubber this is latex that you won’t see on every second AV on Bondage Ranch, making you stand out in a crowd, so go get yours before everyone does.

More PonyBoUnd

Following on from last week’s article about the newly discovered store, PonyBoUnd, I was talking with the owner who let slip some very interesting ideas that I thought you should all be aware of.

First is that the current initial crop of products are not yet scripted.

I do have it on good authority that this is one of the first things to be looked into changing, and updates will be made available for those as the range grows.

Second is a “pimp my tack” mix and match range.

Details are not yet confirmed, but the idea is that you have your basic tack set, and can chop and change, mix and match to create any number of combinations, styles and looks.

This is yet another reason to keep an eye on this brand. As is often the case, this is currently still in development, so may take a while before we get a full idea of just how custom you can take the tack, but it certainly has promise.

And for the record, the pony mask is still my favorite part of the full latex pony avatar. I can’t wait to see just how this one gets scripted.

Freedom - Blacksilk Academy

Next on our tour of the Freedom continent is an education facility called Blacksilk Academy.

The brainchild of Ravena Decuir, it sits on the Blacksilk sim.

Roman architecture seems particularly well suited to outside classes - if a philosopher in a toga walked up, I wouldn’t blink.

Ravena has made available a collection of informative notecards in the library (the round-roofed building) on a number of good D/s subjects.

Classes are mostly one-on-one with Ravena, and she has some good instructors joining her.

One of them is Forceme Silverspar. She has been giving her own classes in SL for over three years.

There are huge changes coming to Freedom, so here’s a little scoop, courtesy of Serjourn Daxter : The three “winter” sims are going. Bye bye Sine Qua Non, Ravenia and Fetish Network, we hardly knew ye. So does North Star, the westernmost sim. Blacksilk and Pirandello Bay move north of Damsel/Bondage Ranch. This is already under way, we nearly didn’t have pics to show you of the academy tonight ;) New sims are joining Freedom : Vesta Amor will be north of the newly moved Blacksilk. Blue Spirit, a pony sim, will be east of Forbidden Sins - and our new friend Ponybound Resident will set up shop there :) Billie’s, the popular jazz club, will remain on Blacksilk. Basically, I’d say check the map frequently ;)

Catch it - Ultima Catsuit

Another catsuit inspired (well, ordered) by Sanda Rae, of the Gothic Fetish Club at WarDoom’s, this is the Ultima Catsuit.

Sanda had something specific in mind, and it took quite a few tries by the designer at Catch It before she said “That’s it!”.

The shine is reminiscent of POC, nearly glass-like. The seven colors (black, white, purple, blood - shown here -, pink, red and blue) match Wardoom’s own colors.

Sanda pointed out that this is a neck-entry catsuit, hence no unsighly zippers at the front or back. This is one of those “don’t-try-that-in-real-life” things, kiddies.. anyone who’s seen an expensive piece of latex tear explosively knows what I mean.

So there you go. Grab a nice Ultima and you’ll easily find matching boots to go dancing at Gothic Fetish - how easy is that? ;)

Third and final latex this week, promise, really... *smiles*

At first glance you see a pretty realistic shine in some very good colors, WarDoom colors that is.

But look closer and you’ll see the fine lines of the seams and the zipper.

When you wear the tattoo layer you’ll get a very high collar almost making it to your chin. The gloves are kinda the same, more like long sleeves.

Next to the tattoo layer you get the catsuit in underwear and cloth layer, so another mix and matcher, though i would expect this one to usually be the base of your outfit.

A nice change from your usual latex and matches great with the wonderful WarDoom creations, so what are you waiting for, your new catsuit is waiting for you... *winks*

Latex Station - Diana and Nina

A new-today release from Latex Station, I’m wearing Diana (with the tights). Lelo is wearing Nina, which is already a week old ;)

Diana is named for a friend of Chill3, a cool homage.

(I’m waiting for a designer to call something Deirdre, but judging by how people misspell my name, it would probably hurt sales : they’d never find it on a Marketplace search.)

Diana, then, is a lovely corset top and laced latex tights combo. The corset is available in shirt and jacket layer, so you can wear it over a catsuit, say.

The tights also have two versions, one with the bottom finished in red to wear with shoes and a plain one for boots.

Also included are a pair of long gloves with nice red detail and calf stockings.

The main part of the Nina outfit is the strapless body which comes in both underwear and cloth layer, the folds and the buckles give the body some life.

You also get a little hot-pants to cover up, well cover up a bit i should say.

The set is completed with stockings and leather gloves. Add some good heels and you're there.

Don't mistake this for a bathing suit, leather isn't made for swimming. *winks*

Hugo's Design - Jorja

Introducing the latest release from Hugo’s Design, Jorja.

This is one of their famous mix-and-match outfits made of several interconnecting parts.

I imagine there are some creative Hugo fans out there taking a sleeve here, a top there, and making cool original outfits Erik never envisioned.

The bottoms are all transparent, so there’s no way to wear this outfit as-is in a non-adult sim.

That’s going to be a big disappointment to you if you were going to wear Jorja to church, but that’s about the only case I can think of ;)

As you might come to expect from Hugo you get a nicely filled bag with goodies.

24 items in all of which 3 base outfits in tattoo layer and some great add-on’s, like the gloves, stockings, long sleeved shawl and chaps.

The stockings and gloves come in black and the base color, sadly the chaps and shawl only in black.

A lovely little number in the usual style of Hugo’s, fun to play around with and make into a personalized outfit.

PonyboUnd

I always enjoy getting tips from people within the pony community, and this was on of those tips.

It happens, sometimes, that someone finds something that I had not yet found on my own.
It’s always good to have others out there to help me with the research.

On receiving the landmark for PonyboUnd, I promptly teleported there without the need for Scotty to beam me up :).

First impressions suggest this is a new store as there are only a handful of products on sale and naturally, I liked what I saw

A free pony AO and sounds HUD are offered. On one side of the store are pony girl items, the other side ponyboy.

Admittedly, this looks like very early days for the store and so there are only a small selection of items, all centered around a very interesting black latex pony avatar.

The pony mask looks like being the most interesting of them all to me, and I am looking forward to talking with the creator to see if there are any scripted features - like RLV - since i am a big fan of RLV and the added depth that can give.

I think this might be another store to keep a close eye on - and certainly worth a visit - particularly if you are looking for a latex pony mask.

And it’s always great to see another designer creating for pony play.

Carters Custom Designs - Collars

We received a call from Iain Wandsworth, the friendly lady who maintains Carter’s Custom Designs’ blog, among other things.

Would we be interested in seeing some lovely new collars? I admitted that we might.. possibly.. have a space in our schedule.. right now! ;)

With lovely names like “Stylish”, “Gothic”, “Glamour” and “Girl’s best friends”, they are suitable for a fashion look or a submissive one, depending on how you wear them.

I’m wearing Girl’s Best Friends, for example, without the little bell in the middle. The earrings come in a belled or no bell version. They’re a little bigger than I love, so I skipped them here. The Stylish ones are fun, though.

A few notes on the scripts : the resize has two very good settings, minimum size (which fit me best) and maximum size, which is about the size of a swimming pool - I tried it and had a chuckle. If lelo ever loses me in a crowd, I have a nice locator ;)

The attachment point for the collars is the chest; not bad, but not convenient for me, so I changed it to the spine (I was losing my Drawmachine dress fluff!) The collar appeared between my legs.. took me a moment to find it ;) Lower end of the spine, apparently.

Iain told me the store was nice, but she understated things. The plaza is gorgeous, each department of Carters a separate store. Classy, easy to navigate.. the collars even have their own teleporter stop. Definitely worth a visit.

Here is the solution, collars made by a jewellery designer aka lockable jewellery.

Kimber was smart and used the now open source Dari Haus script, arguably the best collar script in SL.

She tweaked it a bit, for instance she added a nice resizing script to them.

Some die hard BDSM fans will find these collars too fancy, but what’s wrong with making your sub look good and fashionable?

Every collar comes with matching earrings and i’m sure you can find some matching jewellery in her shop.

I especially love the lace on the gothic, looks really with the jewels. It’s tempting but still not putting my good old Amethyst away. *winks*

Najah Creations - Bustier Catsuit and Scoopneck Bodysuit

Najah is one of those designers who got directly in touch with us and sent us samples for review. While that doesn’t guarantee a post, it does get our attention :)

Her store is full of good fetish latex at very reasonable prices. If you want to begin a fetish wardrobe with some basics, Najah is a good store to visit.

I’m wearing the Bustier Catsuit, a four-piece ensemble. The design is simple, and the shine is quite decent. Accessorize generously, and you’ll fit right in at Rubber Room.

Other designers may take a hint from Najah and give us a beep if we haven’t found you yet ;)

In the box you get a pair of stockings, the top in underwear and shirt layer and the bottom part in pants and also underwear layer.

The bodysuit reminds me of 80’s aerobics wear with the cut and the ½ length sleeves.

Najah’s prices are very low making this the perfect base for an extensive wardrobe, just add belts, corsets, jackets, shoes... well you know the game or you wouldn’t be reading our blog.. *winks*

Ohh.. and for you bargain hunters, she does have a few freebies.

WarDoom Shoes - XXX Elegance

Tanja Porta gave us a call the other night, and dropped in to give us a preview of WarDoom’s new XXX Elegance shoes.

We don’t get private home demos of everything we show you here, so we were pretty flattered.

Turns out the demo was pretty important - these shoes are really packed with features.

Of course, my Sherlock Holmes-like powers of observation revealed ten important features at a glance - yes, toes. (Ok, so maybe Sherlock’s job is safe.) Anyway. Cool prim toes and painted toenails, just in time for Spring.

The heels and platforms are fantastic.. borrowing a page from VvB, I’d say ;)

It’s been a while but WarDoom is back with some new shoes.

The triple X indicates that these shoes have all the goodies we know from the balletboots.

But the real new thing is the color hud, which was kept amazingly small for a hud with this many options.

First there are the nail polish options giving you all 7 WarDoom colors to chose from.

Then you can select your skin color using one of 5 presets, or you can mix your own from a full spectrum color field, i got lucky with one of the base colors matching my skin.

Now comes the most amazing part of the shoes, the latex color selector, which gives you 3 types of latex reflection so you can match that to your favorite brand of latex.

There are 10 presets for colors here so you can keep your favorites nicely stored.

And if you by mistake totally mess up your colors one push on the reset button restores all the colors to default.

Lovely new shoes by WarDoom, hope this is the beginning of a new flood of shoes and boots...

Squeaky Rubber - Checkerboard

Are zebras black with white stripes or white with black stripes? (If you believe this old French comic strip, they’re green with white and black stripes.)

This fundamental problem also applies to checkerboards, and Squeaky Rubber’s Elisa Kumaki studied the question with this lovely catsuit kit called Checkerboard.

The box comes with 13 parts, including two fun skins : one with a traditional hood’s eye and mouth openings, and the other giving full coverage like a zentai suit.

Most of the items are underwear and shirt layer, leaving you the opportunity to wear something over top.. a corset, perhaps?

A clever zipper is available on the shirt and pants layer - you should be able to use them on other catsuits as well - or wear them over your bare skin if you like that kind of practical joke ;)

It’s been a while since we covered Squeaky Rubber, so it was time to have a look at what’s new and fun in Elisa’s store.

We both love the original textures she comes up with and Checkerboard really caught our eye in the red black version shown here by Mistress. Elisa also offers a green/black and grey/black version.

I’m not quite sure where and when to wear this, an medieval fair as a joker maybe, still at her prices it’s a very affordable way make a fashion statement.

Her little sky box is slowly filling up with great and unusual designs, take some time shopping around, i’m sure you’ll find some unique pieces that you will love.

You’ll really stand out at a party wearing one of these..though i’m not sure if that’s a good thing. *winks*

Pony Play Noobs

I forget sometimes how it is for noobies coming into ponyplay, as it has been a long time since i was there.

Having said that, I received an IM from someone new to SL, and who had a sub who wanted to be a pony.

One question I was asked was : how is a ponygirl different from a furry?

I actually found I had no answer to that. I have seen furries in pony sims, partaking in pony play just like human ponygirls.

My first thought was that a ponygirl is still a human, treated as a pony. But a furry can be a furry, treated as a pony.

So, the truth of it is, I am not at all sure if there really is a difference, except in appearance - any furries out there have any insight?

Another question I was asked : “What does a Trainer/Owner do?”

Again, I was stumped, though I managed to fumble a reply of “Treat your ponygirl like you would a horse” - helpful if you have a history of horse riding, not so helpful if you don’t.

Having given it some more thought, the Owner would do whatever they wish to with their ponygirl. A Trainer would at its most basic, provide training.

But this isn’t like learning to drive a car. There is no right or wrong to what you should or should not do.

A certain sim may have rules, but other than that, pony play is what you make it. What works for one pony and owner/trainer couple might not for the next couple.

So if you find something you both enjoy, don’t worry about whether it is right or wrong.

Unless you intend to become a competition pony.

Blogger Was Broken - We're Innocent !

Hello everyone!

Faithful readers will have noticed that Thursday's post never showed up.

We were here (we haven’t missed a day in years, literally) but Blogger had technical difficulties.

We couldn't post, as the service was in read-only mode while they repaired something.

We didn’t suffer too much damage : we lost one comment and a few tags on Wednesday’s post - I think some bloggers may have been less fortunate.

Blogger’s record is still admirable : this is the first serious downtime since we started the blog in September 2008.

Anyway, we’re back up, and we're ready to show you cool new stuff on Monday.

Rosal - Shiri

Shiri is a corset Tsarina created with Darkadia in mind.

We showed you the shibari room at Darkadia some time back.

Well, shibari lovers will recognize the classic design decorating this lovely corset.

The corset complements Latex Web outfits really well... if you’re crazy about corsets but just don’t know what to wear with yours, this is a good option.

I had to think a moment to find something to wear with the red corset that didn’t overwhelm it - but we try to show off designs, a very different goal than daily wear.

It’s not up yet, but you should be seeing a Rosal shop at Darkadia soon.. maybe get a corset and kimono? ;)

Tsarina has been busy again and made new corsets, this time in a more contemporary style.

There are 3 colors available: red, white and black, and you can of course get the matching neck corset with your waist corset.

New in this version is option to color of the side straps, the marble accessory and the rope.

A rope that is an amazing bit of sculpting. i think someone has been looking at too many shibari pictures.

Tsarina promised us she is working one a resizing script to make fitting easier in future and updated models.

As usual beautiful work by Tsarina, she’s building up a great collection for all tastes.

XTC Leather - New Moon

This is XTC Leather’s latest release, New Moon. As you can see, it comes in four shades ;)

The nice folks at XTC had the idea to show them all at once, and I had to agree that it was a fun thought.

So Applegrl Shepherd and Diaperedpet Jewell (the famous personal shopper is now assisting Xaviar) dropped by the studio, and we had the pics snapped in no time flat - nothing like experienced models to zoom things along.

And while white leather with cool tints is fun, gorgeous, and a change from black, it *is* a bit of a challenge to accessorize.

This is where Pet jumps in with a brilliant suggestion : the new Bax ankle boots in metallic leather are an excellent match for New Moon’s flavors.

New Moon isn’t that new, but Xaviar finally gave in to popular demand and made these new colors.

The new edition comes in, from left to right (in case you can’t tell one blond from another) : Ice which is the sky blue shade Mistress is wearing, I’m in the bubblegum colored Pink, Apple is in wearing the golden Honey and finally Pet sports the reddish Blush.

You get 5 clothing items next to the LM and the give away vendor picture, seems this is a trend with designers now.

You can make quite a few combinations with just those 5 items, there is a corset, gloves, stockings with suspenders, full pants and panties.

It’s great to see when designers listen to the wishes of their customers, even better when it produces a lovely outfit like this one.

Jaimie Earst Fashion - Sandra

Sanda Rae gave us a call - she’s the manager of the Fetish Goth Club at Wardoom’s - and told us she had designed a catsuit with Jaimie Earst.

I was definitely curious to see it, and I’m happy to share it with you : Sandra, by Jaimie Earst Fashion (designed by Sanda Rae).

You can find it at Jaimie’s, of course, but Sanda put up a vendor at her club to help the poor unfortunates who arrive naked and barefoot ;)

That’s right, the catsuit comes with matching ankle boots - part of the reason for the middlin-high price.

Yes, I know lately Saleena’s Boutique has featured frequently in this column, but that is because Saleena and I were brainstorming for new ideas.

And no, I don’t get commission. But it isn’t often that fresh new ideas for pony play activities come to SL, and so I got rather excited by this.

For those that don’t know what pole bending is, its a rodeo event.

The track utilises Saleena’s pony saddle vehicle to give everyone a fair run, and contains the scripts to prevent cheating.

The saddle vehicle comes on a temp rezzer so you don’t have to go out and buy a saddle of your own.

Admittedly, this is a variation on the classic slalom, but with the option to give saddle rides, while doing so, and the poles are spaced wide enough to allow a full gallop, with a rider, while weaving between the poles.

Touch a pole, and you don’t just get a penalty, the pole wobbles, or falls over.

The pole bending track is now on sale from Saleena’s boutique and is a fun addition to any pony ranch or stable.

This just proves that if you have an idea for something you feel might be missing from SL, there are people who will take it on to try and create it.

So if you do have ideas and don’t know where to go to try and get it made, let me know, and we can see if any of our designers will take up the idea.

Freedom - Slaver Bay

First stop on our tour of the Freedom continent is Slaver Bay. The intro notecard starts with this paragraph :

“Welcome to Slaver Bay, a Kidnap Roleplay SIM with two big (RP) angles in the city: "Hornywood" a casting agency and movie studio, and "SinQuisition", the most dangerous nightclub in SL.”

While we haven’t touched upon it a lot, kidnap roleplay is popular in quite a few sims.

There is a sharp distinction between IC, in character play, and OOC, out of character communication.

Basically, if you don’t understand this distinction, heavy roleplay sims are not for you at this point.

(But don’t despair - classes are available, and we’ll cover them soon!)

You arrive in a small sky mall - yes, sim owners have to pay their tier - and a New York City Yellow Cab takes you to the streets of Slaver Bay.

The sim has a “good” dark feel and is best viewed with the world set to midnight, which is the sim standard.

There's a lot of streets leading to dark nooks and crannies in this inner-city sim. You can rezz your own vehicle, so we took a look around on a Dark Jewel chopper, seemed like the best way to stay somewhat in character.

There are quite a few live RLV traps on the sim so better beware or you’ll spend more time here than you would like.. or would you?

The rules are on notecards available in the center of the mall, and this Web site has the latest version. It points to a forum where you’ll find a lot of useful information.
